DO I SHOOT EVERYTHING AS VIDEO & SCREEN-GRAB STILLS FROM THAT?
Absolutely NOT!
This is a very bad idea and is practiced by many other Photography / Videography companies.  Capturing stills from paused motion video is far lower quality when it comes to viewing and printing those still images.  Always ask the photographer / videographer if they do this.  Any who pause footage to screen-grab stills is a no no.

STILL PHOTO CREATION
I capture stills using full-frame Sony Alpha & Canon DSLR Cameras and use the RAW file format. I do not shoot in JPEG format, which is another bad idea as it reduces editing abilities later on. All images are supplied as full-quality and full-size JPEG files which are easy to print and share.  RAW files are also available on request, but you’ll need some decent computer software to use them.  All photos are supplied on a USB memory card.

VIDEO CREATION
Motion Video is captured at HD quality and a high frame rate, for increased clarity and cinematic feel.  Moving cameras are mounted to 3-Axis Gimbals for incredibly smooth cinematic movement with no ‘camera-wobble’ or hand-held camera feel.  High frame rates also allow for silky smooth slow motion playback for certain parts of the finished movie. Supplied on USB as an MP4 movie file and the USB is formatted to what is called NTFS format, making it work on 99% of Smart TVs and all computers.

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
During the day, I use both a stills photo camera and a gimbal-mounted video camera to capture highlights of the Bridal Preparations, Groom & Groomsmen pre-Wedding, the guests arriving and scenes from the venue, rooms and decorations etc., plus the Drinks Reception, Group Photos, Bride & Groom Portraiture, etc. These parts of the day are filmed with the intention of adding music over the top (so you don’t need to curb what you talk about!).  For the Ceremony, Speeches and First Dance, I set up multiple remotely controlled video cameras and multiple separate sources of audio recording, so that these parts of the day are filmed in full and presented as such on the finished movie. You get to see and hear everything that was said.  And while the video cameras are running, I shoot Photo Stills with my dedicated Stills Cameras at the same time.

For a more detailed explanation, pleas see Page 5 in the 2024-25 Weddings Brochure.

So you see, it is so easy for me to cover both parts together. And it doesn’t take any more time up on the day either, because when there are multiple people with cameras, the time gets shared out, as the photographer would shoot their stills, and then the videographer would shoot their video.

GALLERY BELOW shows some of the images used in the Photo Video Combo Show Reel as screen-size still photos, so that you can see the clarity properly.
